Finally.
So, tonight's the night...
Tonight is FEIST!
Feist is at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA. This very night!

And I'm going to see her. If I don't pee my pants before 8pm, it'll be a miracle. Bonafide.
She's going to sing me some songs and I will probably cry. Which will embarrass my companion. But that's OK. Because I'll be dancing, too. She has at least 3 songs that make me lose it in the car. You'd think I was listening to your average, rump-shaker club anthem of the moment the way I can't sit still while driving. People give me the strangest looks at stop lights. But I don't care. Truth be told, I always dial it up a notch if I see someone watching me. The MOST fun.
Anyway.
This concert is a birthday gift from someone who MUST love me very much. Sometimes, it's hard to tell, but not today because we're going to FEIST. Who is an amazing songwriter. With a voice that sounds like every note is a battle just barely won out over her vocal chords that should, technically, not be allowing her to make the utterances that she makes. And the moans. Straight from the gutter of her belly. And the sighs. It's amazing. I'd cut off a baby toe to have a voice with such personality.
I dig her poetry, y'all. As we speak, I'm listening to "Intuition"...
what gives, what helps
Intuition
I'll know, I'll know
I won't have to be shown
the way home
and it's not about a boy
although, although...
they can lead you
hide or reveal, too
a destination...
So, after you finish sharing that song...you should go out and buy the CD. You won't be sorry. I swear. It's the best thing I bought last year.
Other favorite songs:
1. "Let it Die" Obviously. Title track. And listening to it is a bad decision every time. Do I stop? Naw. I press the "Repeat" button.
2. "Lonely Lonely" (big sigh).
3. "Inside and Out" And I think it's all right if I like her Bee Gees better than I like the Bee Gees' Bee Gees.
Look. I really shouldn't even have said favorites because it isn't exactly true. I like the ENTIRE CD. It's just that these songs have boys' names written on them, do you know what I mean? 'Course you do.
Seriously...I don't know if the show is sold out, so if you're here...you should try to come. We'd love to have you, Leslie and I. The tickets are only $16!!!
And you're certain to fall in love with her, like me. Or with someone in the audience that you spot across the way whose face is so earnest, and whose lips are moving almost imperceptibly, who raises their hand above their head in that final note of "Intuition."
It's gonna be that kind of night. Every guy there, if they play their cards right, is going to get some something. As long as they don't fuck it up by speaking too much or answering their cell during the show.
FEIST! TONIGHT! Happy early Birthday to ME!!!!!
